Previously located in Jonker Street, the Toy Museum Melaka is one of must visit place suitable for all age and recommended for family hangout. Adult can admire the contemporary movie toy figures and the old vintage toys that they used to play with, bringing back a sense of nostalgia, while the children can get a good look at the large collections of toys and interact with some of the toys that are displayed on the rack and out of the cabinet.
There’s a huge HULK figure at the rooftop of the museum, it should be fairly easy to notice when you’re on your way downtown from Ayer Keroh.
The BIG T-REX outside the compound of the Toy Museum
Toy Museum Melaka might not be as big as the toy museum in Penang, but it has a huge variety and collection of toys and figures. Most of the toy exhibits are either limited edition or stopped production. Below are some of the photos of the toys that I took during my visit there:
Alien vs Predator (AVP) Collection – One of the huge collection in the Toy Museum (Star Wars is another huge collection here)
Human-size Cat Woman on the wall
Some really large size exhibit – AS BIG AS I AM
MJ Corner – Dedicated the Michael Jackson – His albums are among the exhibits here
Collection of Garfield toys – Do you miss Garfield?
One of George’s personal favourite – the smile of the doll, the lips and dimples, are exactly like real life.
Tony Stark from Ironman
One of the Horror themed figures – Friday the 13th
Girls’ heaven – Barbie Doll & Plushies
This Superman toy is dedicated Christopher Reeves. Part of the money spent for this model is donated to an organisation set up specifically to for stem cell research.
The Transformers collection – OLD & NEW
Unique collection of doll made based on Anne Gedes’ Baby Ladybug. Anne Gedes is well known for her work on baby clothing, baby pictures and baby calendar
Most of the exhibits are the owner’s personal collections, with a small percentage of the toys are placed here for display by the owner’s friends. Toy Museum exhibits dolls and toys from the 1960s all the way to the current collections. The collection of toys in Toy Museum Melaka are from the following movie and cartoons such as the Star Wars, The Pirates of the Carribean, Lord of the Rings, Batman, X-Men, Spiderman, Ironman, Bruce Lee, Looney Tunes, Smurfs, Godzilla, Ultraman, Hamtaro, Pokemon, Doraemon..and many more (too much to name them all). There is also a horror room and a horror walkway, displaying toys from various horror and thriller genre movies.
On your way out, you may want to look at some of the toys that is available for sale.
