Strategically nestled in the heart of Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), the Melaka Planetarium is built with profound fingerprints of the Islamic architecture and a landing UFO. Melaka Planetarium, also known as Melaka Planetarium Adventure Science Centre, was opened for public in August 10, 2009 and is officiated by the Chief Minister of Malacca, Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.
Melaka Planetarium offers visitors a glimpse into the magnificent cosmos, and the history of astronomy and astronomers through its cutting-edge technology. It exhibits various exciting attraction such as the Spacecraft Model, Challenger Simulator, Solar System, Galaxy Gateway, Satelite, Hubble Space Telescope and many more.
3D Space Theater
Deemed as the most sophisticated space theater in Asia, the 3D Space Theater is equipped with state of the art audiovisual technology with Evans and Sutherland’s Digistar 3 system (a powerful combination of hardware and software capable of generating immersive full dome images with real time 3D computer graphics, astronomical simulations and full dome video). The range of 3D films available has all the educational information for everyone which promises them a truly amazing unique celestial experience. The Space Theater is housed in a 15m internal dome and has a seating capacity of 250.
